Welcome to Ulsys Ltd.

Ulsys Ltd is a start-up medical device company, spun-out of Blueprint Product Design Ltd, a product design consultancy based in West Yorkshire.

In response to requests from the clinical community, Ulsys have developed a prototype undergarment (bandage) pressure monitor for use in the monitoring and optimisation of pressures applied by compression bandaging - the treatment of choice, for Venous Leg Ulcers.

Strategy

Ulsys' strategy is to design, develop, test, trial and manufacture a range of medical devices based on the medical implications of pressure, whether too little or too much. In the first instance, priority is being given to the development of a patented under-garment pressure monitor, which will be used to accurately monitor pressure being applied by compression bandaging used to treat leg ulcers.

The ultimate vision is the provision of self-diagnostic, self-monitoring and self-adjusting devices which will either optimise pressures required (as for the monitor described herein) or act to alleviate pressure-induced problems (i.e. future devices such as the patented pressure-monitoring and adjustable mattress to prevent the development of pressure sores; operating table pressure monitors; resuscitation aids and diabetic foot pressure monitors).
